REPAIR OF BROKEN AIR INJECTOR IN WALL OF SPA
The spa shown below had begun to leak significantly. Using geophones and pressure testing, we were able to isolate the point of the leak. One of the air injectors had developed a crack on the lower portion of the fitting inside the gunite wall of the spa. Carefully jack-hammering out a small area around the air injector, the plumbing was cut out and a new air injector was installed. The system held pressure after the repair - note the pressure testing setup installed on the spa lines under the deck.

The first two photos are of the area in the spa around the cracked air injector prior to any repair work. The spa had been leaking all spring when we were asked to locate the source of the water loss. (Please note that the tile line above the injector was damaged prior to any work done by Baumann Aquatics.) |

Far right: The only way to locate the leak while minimizing the work area needed for the repair was to dig out the plumbing lines under the deck and install pressure testers directly on all of the lines at that spot. |

The next two photos are of the cracked air injector still encased in the gunite beam of the spa wall. The air injector had developed a hairline fracture running down the center of the plastic casing between the two lower sections of pipe. |

Right: The air injector has been completely cut out and replaced.
Far right: The final photo is of the spa after the air injector has been replaced, the lines pressure tested and the site has been cleaned up. Please note that great care was been taken to minimize the opening required for the repair as well as any damage to any other are of the spa |
